Astrology and Your Chart

The astrological signs tell the story of the earth, the seasons, and the cycles of growth. Imagine The Wheel of the Year projected into the sky. Each astrological sign is the keeper of the story of a season. Imagine that the astrological sign is a Priestess or Priest of the holiday contained in that sign. They orchestrate the sacred rituals of that holiday in the personalities of all who are born during that time. The actions of an Aries are daily life rituals that express the daring of early Spring. A Scorpio lives the mystery of Samhain. As the earth turns, the sun is in the segment of the sky that is called the sign. It tells the mythic story of the season.

The sun enters Aries on the Spring Equinox. It brings us rituals of beginning, courageous sprouting, and pioneering new experiences. The Autumn Equinox and Libra are involved with the interactions that are needed for the season of harvest. The rites call forth co-operation, community and the coming together needed to bring in the harvest. All around the circle of life, the signs tell the stories of the seasons. Astrologers have noticed that we tell the story of the season of our birth as one aspect of our basic nature.

But you are not as simple as your sun. You are a complex being with many different expressions. You are active and conscious; you are reactive and emotional. You are a warrior, a lover, a thinker/ speaker, a teacher-conservationist, a philanthropic giver-philosopher, a rebel, a mystic, and a transformer. You and astrology are very complex. As below, so above.

The planets represent the many aspects of your personality. They live in the seasons in the sky, different seasons than your sun. Although you might be born a child of Aries and the Spring Equinox, your emotional nature might be a dedicant of Taurus and celebrate the rites of Beltain at every emotional opportunity.

The study of Astrology will ask you to take yourself apart and look at: Each aspect of yourself as it is represented by the Planets. The season that each planet, each aspect of yourself wears into life is called the Sign. How that planet expresses itself in your life is defined by the House or area of your birth chart where it takes action. The art of astrology is putting all of these pieces back together. Each planet or aspect of who you are is affected by all the others aspects of you in subtle and intricate interactions. Together - the planets, signs and houses create a chart that describes a complex and unique being. Your chart describes you.

How do the aspects of you modify each other? How do they liberate each other? What gifts are naturally yours? Although societies have made judgments about different seasons and their gifts, astrology does not.

Each sign is dedicated to an Element. Beginning with Aries at the Spring Equinox, fire, earth air and water repeat as they move around the chart. All elements are equally valuable. Fire is not more valuable than Air; Air is not more valued than Fire. Intuition is not more valuable than Verbalizing; Verbalizing is not more valued than Intuition.

In the Wheel of the Year, each season has a gift, a talent and a labor that it requires. In the Wheel of your Life, each aspect of your personality has a gift to share with the world, a talent. Each aspect of you also has a labor that you are called to do. Predestination? Yes. But you are free to choose how you will live the story of your soul, how you will use your talents, and if you will take on the great work that you have the talent to do.

Your chart is not a limitation or a burden, but it is written in the Cosmic realm. It may be more challenging than your mortal self would choose. It is a picture of possibility, of talent, of who you could be if you lived out of time and culture and were not shaped by society. Your chart challenges you to shake off any beliefs that oppress your innate self and express the seasons of the earth in all their glory as you.

About Astrology Charts

Astrological Wheel: The Wheel represents the positions and houses each planet resided in, on the date, time, and location of your birth or another date you specify. For more information, visit the following examples:

Day Watch: The Day Watch is designed to print easy-to-reference monthly calendars of transits, progressions and solar arcs to your natal chart. You can purchase six months or an entire year. Examples:

"The Sky Within" Birthchart: Steven Forrest contracted with Matrix Software to write a birthchart interpretation text based on his book, The Inner Sky. "The Sky Within" is a personalized, 15-20 page text analyzing a birthchart's major features in positive, choice-centered language. Every planet in every house and sign, and the Nodes of the Moon in their houses and signs, are all covered.

"SkyLog" Birthchart: Steven and Matrix Software wrote a more sophisticated report dealing with astrological "current events" — transits and progressions. "SkyLog" is based on Steven's book, The Changing Sky. Booklets vary in length, depending on how many astrological configurations affect someone at a given time, and focus on freedom, choice, and personal responsibility. Reports are divided into 3 sections: "The Invitation," describing a specific time period's developmental challenges and potentials; "The Means," covering the changing tactics and strategies appropriate during that time; and "The Details," a day-by-day analysis of the ever-shifting astrological weather.

Child Report: The Child Report is written specifically for parents of children, and it focuses on issues that parents are concerned about for their children: the needs, talents, potential problems, health, relationship to parents, the school environment, etc.
