A logging operation has recently purchased 880 acres to the south of and adjacent to Diana's Grove. The loggers began clear cutting the land earlier this spring, and have cleared roughly 400+ acres. The logging is ongoing and, if it continues as the present rate, will be visible from Carter Shay by late September.

Clear cutting is a highly destructive form of logging, and raises a great deal of concern for us and for some of our neighbors. A meeting was held on May 24th and some agreements have been negotiated:
We hope to be able to preserve the 120-acre portion directly to the south of us. This is comprised of three 40-acre parcels. Our goal is to purchase, at a minimum, the 40-acre parcel that will most impact activities at the Grove, and as much of the remaining 200 acres as possible. For those portions we can not purchase, we hope to find supportive third-party purchasers who share our dedication to preservation of the land.

We will make shares available to those interested in helping Diana's Grove Center preserve these wild spaces. We will sell between 35 and 45 shares at $10,000 per share, payable upfront or in installments over the next 10 years (approximately $83/month + interest, less with down payment).
Diana's Grove Center will own the land and develop a commons area, including a community house. Each leased share will entitle the leaseholder to:
Consider purchasing a share, or partnering with others to purchase a share as a way to put a stewardship ethic into practice. Let those you think might be interested in this opportunity know about our plan.
Consider a donation to Diana's Grove center to help us confront this threat.
